Our story

The Tahā Distillery was created in 2021 by two brothers - Andre & Logan Howe. Growing up in New Zealand and now living on the East Coast of Australia.  Our intention is to showcase the unique flavours of the south pacific islands and to connect with different people and cultures.

Tahā refers to the type of gourd (vessel) traditionally used by Māori and other Polynesians to carry food and water whether journeying across the ocean or the land.  The word ‘hā’ in the Māori language means ‘to taste or breathe’.

Our first signature botanical infused Kawakawa (NZ) and Lemon Myrtle (Australia) gin exactly represents what Tahā means to us. It is the connection between these two special places we are fortunate to call home. We want to share and continue this journey of Tahā products throughout the south pacific region and the world.
