Welcome to the land of Tahā
We at Tahā are really proud to share our dream and invite you all to come along for the journey. Firstly, we wanted to acknowledge and pay respect to our indigenous and local people throughout the South Pacific region. Community, respect and aroha (love) are the values we represent and support.
Our emphasis will be sourcing locally grown products (where possible) including from our actual own garden to regional areas where our carbon footprint can be minimised. We even process one of our secret spices using the sunshine for the drying and our own hands for the crushing.
The Polynesians navigated throughout the South Pacific using waka (outrigger or watercraft) guided by the star constellation and following the migration of seabirds to discover new lands. The Maori were resourceful and Tahā was essential for their survival as they travelled on these impressive ocean voyages. We worked with a talented local artist Jamaica Creative to create beautiful imagery to represent what Tahā means to us. The ocean, the birds, the land and the native flora designs are images anyone from anywhere in the South Pacific can relate to.
Symbolically we continue the journey (just like our ancestors) with Tahā when we moved from Aotearoa (NZ) to Australia. Our first signature gin was the perfect representation of this connection when we infused the native botanicals of Kawakawa (NZ) and Lemon Myrtle (Australia) unique to the South Pacific. Those flavours gave us the inspiration to seek and explore what else is out there and we intend to share our experience with everyone.
We look forward to sharing the next part of our journey with you soon.
Regards Andre and Logan.
